LG makes several phones that range from introductory level models to top-of-the-line Android smartphones. Transferring photos between a SanDisk micro Secure Digital (SD) memory card and an LG phone is a very useful way to keep photos backed up as well as provide an easy way to print photos directly from the microSD card.
On a Basic Phone
When using a basic flip or quick messaging LG phone, navigate to the device menu and search for your photo/files library. On some devices, an actual file manager option that looks like a standard folder icon is available. Use the options menu and select the photos you want to relocate. Select the 'Move' option to relocate the selected files to and from the microSD card. To set the microSD card as the default storage space for new pictures, open the phone's camera to access the settings, where you'll find a storage default option.
On an Android Phone
Use your device's native file manager app to move pictures from the phone to the microSD card. If the device does not have a bundled file manager, go to the Google Play Store and download either 'File Manager' by Rhythm Software or 'ASTRO Cloud & File Manager' by Metago. To move photos from the phone's internal memory, find the folder named 'DCIM,' which is located in the phone's internal SD storage. Once you have found the desired photos or folders, select the 'Cut' or 'Move' option and paste the photos or folders into the desired location on the microSD card. Access your phone's camera settings to change the default storage location of new photos to the microSD card.
Troubleshooting
If your LG phone is not allowing you to view or download to the microSD card installed, power off the phone and remove the battery. Check to ensure that the microSD card is inserted correctly as depicted in the diagram on the phone's interior or exterior casing. Eject and reinsert the microSD card and power the phone back on. You should allow the phone up to five minutes after powering on to recognize and access the microSD card. If the microSD card still doesn't work, use an adapter to connect the card to your PC and reformat the card. This will erase all personal data from the card and reset it to factory default settings. Some devices are not compatible with larger capacity memory cards, so make sure the device you are using is capable of interacting with the microSD card desired. For example, most LG devices cannot read a 64GB SanDisk microSD card and instead require cards 32GB or smaller.
Warnings
Never remove the microSD card from your LG phone while it is powered on unless you go through the menu to properly eject the device first. If you receive an error message or the phone reports that your microSD card is corrupted, remove the card and reformat it. Never download or install unfamiliar files or folders onto your microSD card prior to putting it into your LG phone.
